How long is it OK to put off telling people, specially my in laws?

Just wondering what everyone thinks is the longest you can put off telling people your pregnant? 
I'm not pregnant yet ( testing in a few days)
Once I tell my in laws the whole town will know so I want to put it off till I can't hide it lol. Opinions?

I told everyone at 5 weeks... It ended in miscarriage at 12 weeks. Next pregnancy I only told my husband and mom at 5 weeks and nobody else, I ended up miscarrying again and was I dreadful not to have to announce another death and to be able to mourn peacefully. I've realized people have no clue how to react to a miscarriage. Most reactions I got the first time pissed me off. And the second time my mom even said a few things that stung such as "why do I keep doing this to myself" "why can't I just be happy with one child" "do I think this is a sign" so next pregnancy I will ONLY tell my husband until 12 weeks. I live 8 hours away from family so keeping my secret will be easy. I will tell family at 12 weeks and the rest of the world after viability with a gender reveal. I will take pictures through out my pregnancy as well and just upload them all at once :) so I dont feel like im missing out.

Don't tell anyone until *you're* ready & comfortable with it! If that be the moment you pee on the stick, or when you're pushing that baby out, do what's best for you!

The last time I got pregnant, we were so excited and shared the news immediately with my in laws. They're really nice people but they just can't keep something to themselves... We told them as soon as we found out, and they spread it like wildfire to all the extended family. Sadly it ended in miscarriage so later it became our painful job to tell everyone that we are not pregnant anymore. So as a new year resolution ( trust me it is!) we have decided not to reveal this to our in laws, mind you, my husband himself told this! So, if we are ever lucky enough to fall pregnant again, we are gonna wait till our first trimester is over and then reveal the news along with the gender... :)

I didn't tell anyone till I was 6 months. Only did that cause I had several miscarriages before my daughter was born. I'm going to do the same thing with my next full pregnancy

My mother in law couldn't keep a secret if her entire life depended on it. We will not be telling them until we are close to 12 weeks along for that exact reason.
