Are cramps normal?

Hey ladies. I'm 37 weeks with my first child. I've had pain here and there. But yesterday I had my internal exam and strep test by my midwife. And it did feel uncomfortable at the time. It totally made my little girl mad in there. She was kicking and punching at me. Today I feel a little crampy still in my pelvis. I wanna say like a period cramp that comes and goes. I'm not discharging or bleeding. Is this normal? I feel like I'm just being overly paranoid but I have no idea what to expect.
