New to this...cervical position

Hi everyone

Totally new to this, just finding out what should be happening when in my cycle as first time of BC for 12 years. Husband and I TTC, AF due next Thurs and if I'm right my cervix is right up high, and TMI sorry, when I looked my finger had tiny brown mucas mixed with CM. Is this normal a week before AF?
