Car seat certificate??

Question

Did you have to have a car seat certificate to leave the hospital with the baby??  My youngest is 12, so it's been a while 😁😁.  All they did then was check that it's buckled in right and the baby is buckled in right. Do I really have to take a class?  TIA

Where I live, we had to bring carseat to the room to make sure baby was properly buckled and they checked expiration date.

I had my son 6 weeks ago and I never needed a certificate. They made us bring the car seat into my room and they checked it to make sure he was secured properly before we left, but that was it. And it's optional, but before he was born we took the car seat to the fire dept to make sure it was strapped in the car correctly.

My first son will be 15 this year so it's been a while since I've had to use a car seat. Our health dept offers free car seat classes so me and my hubby will be taking that. I've had friends who've recently had babies and they didn't need any certs. Baby just has to pass car seat test before leaving hospital.

After I had my son they had a nurse come in and check out our car seat and she showed us how to properly install it in our car and how to properly buckle my son, which I absolutely loved :)

In Ohio every baby gets a car seat test before being able to leave. You have to bring in your car seat and they put the babies in them and monitor oxygen and stuff for like 20 minutes or so.

No on the certificate, yes on the class. That's how it was with my first. They will usually check to make sure baby is properly buckled and car seat is properly installed.

I've never heard of that. They only made sure we had a seat, never checked it. I'm in KY
