When do they start checking for Dilation

When do they check your cervix for dilation at the doctors??

Some dr's don't anymore. It's not a good indicator of labor and has been proven entirely unnecessary.

It's optional for me. I haven't been checked at all my last two pregnancies.  Checking your cervix can give you such a poor view of what's going on in your body and get your hopes up or down depending on what's felt by the doctor. Your body can go into labor the next day even if your cervix was completely closed the day before. Just my two cents and my preference.

I got checked really early at about 31 weeks a few weeks ago because I was experiencing painful contractions. With my first, they checked me at around 34 weeks. I'm having a scheduled repeat c-section and I'm not sure if they still check for dilation.

My doctor will start checking at 36 weeks. That's in a week for me.
