I'm in a long distance relationship so if it just so happens that I'm unfortunately on my period when I see him for one week every three or four months we're not going to avoid sex lol so my boyfriend and I have period sex all the time. It really just depends how comfortable you and him are with it. However we have been dating for over three years and it took him a little while to be comfortable with the idea. Once he realized it honestly isn't a huge mess, he was totally fine with it. I would just recommend putting down a dark towel and wearing a condom even if you're on birth control because it's messy and somewhat gross otherwise! But honestly, we've never even made much of a mess having it and I have a super heavy period (sorry TMI). Also, if you can I would suggest shower sex too because then you don't have to worry about any mess at all. Whenever we do it in the bed on my period I'm always on the bottom, which I would recommend as well for obvious reasons lol. Good luck! :)
