Natural birth and breastfeeding

Christina • First time mommy to a little boy💙
I am a ftm and I really want to try and have an all natural birth. I feel confident in myself that I can do it. However people keep putting me down and saying I'm stupid for not wanting to get an epidural. Although they keep telling me this, I'm still stuck on a natural birth! I feel like it's just a better option for me, I am in no way against epidurals, I just want to try and have my body do what it was made to do. Also I am adamant on breastfeeding. Again people think I am just crazy to want to breastfeed. Why can people never be supportive😩

Just remember that what everyone else says is an opinion. If your doctor thinks you can go natural, do it! Lots of opinions but the only one that matters is yours!

I have a heart condition that I was diagnosed with at 15. Because of this, everyone keeps telling me that I need to have a c section and then have my tubes tired so I can't have anymore. I plan to go all natural unless my doctor see necessary to do otherwise. I don't do well with surgery so my doctor says natural is my best option and he feels confident that I can do it and come out fine! If I have no complications, I will not be having my tubes tied. I would love to have another if it's possible. My family isn't too happy about my decision but it's my choice and I am doing what I feel is best for me! 😊

Everyone I talk to is kinda like "yeah, wait till you're in labor" about the epidural thing. I really want to go natural too so I have been reading about natural pain relief and labor practices. No one gets a say except you so just ignore the negative people. Good luck!!

I don't know from experience but I hear breathing techniques will help you more than anything

I get the same responses. It would be easier for me to feel more confident if people weren't always putting me down saying I won't be able to do it!

I am ftm and planning natural. Everyone is very supportive and the side effects of epidural do not sound like something I want to try. I have been researching natural pain management in birth, have my "labor support bag" full of tools ready to go. Written my birth plan.Don't listen to what others say, you can do it if you put your mind to it.

I know how you feel. I had the epidural with my first and wanted to do natural with my second. I pretty much did all natural except the last hour I opted for the epidural but That was a whole other reason. I think it's great. I do however suggest that you truly prepare yourself. I researched everything on natural birth, the process and how to cope with contractions. The week before I delivered I meditated lots and tried to put my mind in control and read many articles on how to cope with pain using Lamaz which is a way to distract yourself from pain and meditation. Other things that helped where the birthing ball. I advise since you will not get te epidural you should ask to be able to walk around . They can un hook you from IVs . That's what I did for 13 hours I was there walking and distracting myself and it helped to have someone there with me. Honestly it was a great experience however remember that if in the end you chose to get the epidural there is no shame and if you make it till the end good for you. I'm proud for being in labor 15 hours and going all natural for the first 14 hours. I decided for the epidural because after 13 hours I was only 5 cm dilated however the last hour and a half that I waited for the epidural were the final contractions and by the time I got the epidural an hour and a half later I was already 10cm dilated on my own and my water broke. I was so close but it was nice to rest for half an hour and then I felt the need to push and I still felt my contractions very mildly. It was a wonderful experience. Plus I'm one week post parting and I'm healing much quicker than the first time due to very low levels of epidural." Good luck an do not let anyone discourag you from a natural delivery. You don't even have to explain it to anyone. Again be truly prepared by being I tire with your body and knowing how to manage that pain. Good luck

I wanted a natural birth but ended up getting the shot. I regret it so much. I have break pain now where they inserted the shot. I didn't have anyone to support me going natural in the hospital if I had I wouldn't of gotten it. I did stay true to breastfeeding. I was the first out of my family to do it and they all thought I was crazy but supported me for doing it thru the 15 months. As long as you have your mind set just stick with it and be confident in your decisions.

I have talked to a few people that regretted getting the shot! I just feel as though this is the best for me and baby if I can do it! No one is changing my mind unless medically needed, but support would help alittle! But thank you!!

Good for you !! I just made the decision as well .. We'll be having a laboring pool labor, & some birth balls ! I also got the whole .. "Yeah Ok, wait until the pain kicks in" response from people.. But once my mind is made up .. There's not much anyone can say to change it .. Plus my fiance is REALLY supportive .. & he's going to be a major part in helping ! Good luck to you 😊

awh !! you can do it .. my fiancé was more like "you're not getting an epidural" at first & i had to explain to him that this is my body, & furthermore the ppl will be asking me the questions lol .. no he's down for whatever .. he's preparing himself for both ways .

My fiancé is more like he just doesn't believe I can do it without an epidural, but isn't telling me to get one. I just wish he had alittle more faith in me, that would help! He has been supportive with everything though, which I'm happy for!
