Do you feel guilty when you call into work..

When your kids aren't feeling good?

To me I always feel judged by my boss, coworkers when I feel my family comes first. I'm a extra hard worker when I am at work but sometimes I feel my family comes first when I'm needed more here, than at work...
But I ALWAYS feel guilty when I do stay home.

Not too sure if I'm posting in the right place, idk where this topic fits best.

I feel guilty anytime I am off work. I am currently off with pelvic girdle pain and feel terrible. This will be my second week off. But health and babies come first right?

I do. I'm pregnant with my third. I rock at my career and my boss is supportive, but it's natural to feel guilty. Honestly I think it's a good sign you do because it means you care  about the work and the mess you could be leaving behind for your coworkers.

Absolutely not. Family is first, work is second. Work can survive a day or two without me. I had to call in today because my son has whooping cough😡 I do feel guilty when I just call in for no reason... But I rarely do that and my son and myself rarely get sick.

I do even though my boss is super understanding about it. Most of the people I work with are women with kids and even the couple guys I work with tend to be the ones that have to stay home with sick kids too so it happens to all of us and nobody ever judges or makes anyone else feel guilty but I still do.

No was such a hard worker in my teens I was just a waitress at a local family run business when I was 17 I had been working there from the age of 12 to 18 one night I broke my big toe and being a waitress you're on your feet all day I tried to call in sick and told them what happened but they made me feel so bad that they had no one else to work I ended up working the full 6 day week. Not exactly same position as you but now I'm in my 20's and a mother I can totally relate.

Sort of, but I shouldn't. I bust my ass and earn that time to take when I need it. I had co workers call in "sick" for the Superbowl and no one batted an eye. They don't question men though, they might actually be sick lol

I always felt guilty calling in when I worked, even though I made up my missed time. I always hated feeling like someone else had to pick up my slack. It sucks, but our kids come first.

Don't feel guilty. I think people in management just forget that not everyone is bullshitting with the "my kids are sick" reason. I worked with a girl in the past who had a sick child on many Monday and Friday's. At least 2-3 Monday's and Friday's a month and the Friday's were always on pay days. People that have been in management a long time just get seasoned to it. Your family comes first and unless your outside of your alotted PTO they can't do much and they're not supposed to say anything either I don't think.
