Pregnant while breastfeeding?

Can you get pregnant while breastfeeding? I am debating on having another baby close to the one I am pregnant with right now but I'm not sure how that works with breastfeeding. Is there ways or things you can do to help get pregnant while breastfeeding?

YES! I am currently 27+3 weeks pregnant and am still breastfeeding my 1 year old daughter, we obviously conceived this baby while still breastfeeding my daughter.

You generally don't ovulate while breastfeeding. You're nursing a baby so it's your bodies way of saying hey you don't need another baby just yet 😉

Yes you can get pregnant while breastfeeding.  I did and yes it was purposely and I still continued to breastfeed until she self weaned at around a year. They say some babies just don't like the change in taste when you get pregnant I'm guessing that's what happened. As long as you have gotten your period back which means you are ovulating then you will be fine.

If you've started your period again, then you should be good to go (means you're ovulating). That's how I am. I get my period a month after delivery. I have a couple of kiddos 14 months apart.
My friend doesn't ovulate again until she completely weans around 2 years, so everyone is different.

Breast feeding suppresses menstruation to preserve your bodies iron stores - that being said many people do fall pregnant whilst breast feeding as it isn't 100% effective. There isn't anything you can do to make that more likely however. Ideally we should have 18-24 months between pregnancies to allow our bodies to recover and get back to optimal nutritional status to support another growing embryo - so if you wish to do to closer together make sure you are eating exceptionally well - lots of vegetables etc, and taking your prenatal.

Even if you nurse around the clock you can still get pregnant. My periods returned with a month of delivery, and my daughter is a round-the-clock nurser. I have had a baby on my boob every 2 hours for 4 years, but I still ovulate on schedule. And btw nursing while pregnant sucks worse than anything I can imagine. If I could do it over, I'd wait until my first was done before conceiving my second

My mum was breastfeeding my older sister when she fell pregnant with me. We're 11 moths apart, and whilst we do have a great bond, please think about what could potentially happen between them as they get older. Being so close in age can cause so many problems. 
But yes, I guess as soon as you're menstruating you can get pregnant?
