Bad to refuse tests?

A post made me remember this but , i hate needles . I'm 8 weeks and im refusing to get the TDAP & Flu Shot & the other tests to see if the kid will have asma and stuff . Did anyone else refuse shots ? I talked to my sister & she never even heard of the TDAP (for whooping cough for the baby) and she never had a flu shot or anything else . (mind you , she has 3 healthy children) ... Is it wrong to decline these ?

I think you should talk to your doctor and research MEDICAL sources to make an I formed choice, not from a non-medically qualified friend or family member, or so s on the internet. Just because one person did or did not do XX and had a healthy child, doesn't mean that is what happens in all cases.

It.may.not or.may.not affect you or.baby but i thinks its a larger risk than some might think.

A friend of mine refused the Tdap shot and her daughter got whooping cough really bad as a baby. It was horrible to hear a baby cough like an old man that had smoking for thirty years.

And katy(her daughter) still has lung and other developmental issues due to being so sick as a child.

My friend baby died of whooping cough at a few weeks old..so I definitely got Tdap, my husband and family members as well

I did blood tests simply because I'd like to know what to be prepared for or if certain precautions need to be taken while in the delivery room. I got my flu shot because I was going to be travelling ALOT and tdap you should absolutely get because whooping cough can kill your baby.

Both are safe while pregnant unless you have had an adverse effect before to a component of a vaccine ( and they will ask you). Do your research from reputable sources such as ncbi-pubmed, express your concerns to your doctor and then make a decision over it. Good luck and a healthy pregnancy!!!!

I will get the whooping cough shot but had no interest in the flu shot and declined it.

The flu shot isn't as important as whooping cough, honestly. Have you had it in the last 5 years? If so, baby will get antibodies from you in utero/from breast milk.

Whooping cough is very very dangerous for little ones, and most nurseries/day cares require it. Just talk to your doctor about your concerns - pretty much every woman I know has gotten it an been fine as well as their babies. Good luck!
