Acne help??

Question

So I got off of birth control a couple months ago bc I didn't want to take it (plus I'm not sexually active so no harm done) and I'v noticed my acne is getting horrid now. I don't want to get back into birth control but does anyone know any good methods to keep acne controlled? And not just covering it with makeup either

If you are TTC make sure to ask your doctor about what to use for acne, lots of prescription ones have stuff that is harmful for babies even while TTC cause it's still in your system. My doctor told me even if it's just topical it does have an affect so it's best to just stay off

I have been using retinol creams at night to control my acne (the Sun's light deactivates them so I only use at night). Epiduo is a good mild retinol, which my dermatologist prescribed for me. My only issue with retinol creams is that they can be quite drying on the skin, so if you have already dry skin they may do more harm than good, but it can't hurt to try. RoC (I think that's the name) at the drugstore has products that contain retinol. PS forgive me if it's spelled "retinal" instead of "retinol" because I am not 100% sure.

I use to use differin gel worked great but stopped since TTC and broke out really bad for a few months since my skin was so use to it. I still didn't use it and only used organic face washes and took lots of vitamins and my skin is much better and I don't use anything but face wash now. It's a great feeling!

Well I wash my face twice a day, (with a good face wash). I also exfoliate twice a week. If I have a breakout (usually around my menstral cycle) then I apply ice to the spot (to diminish the swelling), clean the one spot with alcohol,  and apply hydrocortisone to the blemish. Don't use alcohol on you entire face because it dries out the skin. I apply it directly to the blemish only. My sister mixes hydrocortisone in her face lotion and apply it to her skin once a night, after washing her face.
