Gall Bladder Surgery with PCOS
Hi PCOS ladies,
Just wondering if any of you had your Gall Bladder out?? I've had chronic, dull/mild pain on the upper right abdomen right below my rib cage on and off for the last 5 years (feels like a stitch in my side). I finally found a new PCP who believed me and confirmed it with bloodwork and an ultrasound. I'm 32, have PCOS, and TTC # 1... Hubby and I are early in our TTC journey, so I am putting that on hold for a bit while I get the GB out.
I am scheduled for surgery on 2/12/16 so I have 3 more weeks to prepare my body by eating healthier and taking Milk Thistle supplements to help clear out my fatty liver (a lovely side effect of my gallstones blocking things up). Hoping I can be in the 95% that have a laparoscopic one instead of the 5% traditional open surgery.
Anyone have any GB experiences to share? Things you'd recommend I do now and/or in recovery? I took a week off work so I'm hoping that's enough time (with the weekends that's 9 days off after surgery day).
We are the experts on our own bodies, so I want to hear from you! And please advocate for yourselves-- PCOS and long-term BC use are both risk factors for Gall Bladder and fatty liver issues!
Thanks in advance and baby dust to everyone!
