Anyone seeing their primary care/family doctor for prenatal care?

Mine handles up to 28 weeks if I choose and am considering it for convenience at least for the early appointments. What have your experiences been? or other thoughts?

Answer

I love my primary care physician but I wouldn't have them as my OB for any period of time. They are general practitioners and their daily medical experience is with sick patients and physicals. They don't live pregnant women day in and day out. It's not their specialty. OBs have the most up-to-date knowledge to help you have the most healthy pregnancy possible from beginning to end. I mean, you wouldn't go to a gastroenterologist for heart problems, would you? No, because it's not their specialty.

No I asked to get referred because I have time to chose my ob if I don't like him I can change and still be early in the pregnancy I have a history of bad hemorrhage after delivery so I wanted my ob to know my hole pregnancy
