Child with diabetes HELP please !!!!

My niece has type 1 diabetes, she came from New York and is currently wearing a dexcom,  My sister didn't put a new sensor in before traveling & forgot she put the receiver in her purse "for safe keeping" it went through the X-ray machine with the rest of her carry ons instead of with her diabetes supplies, is it ruined? She's afraid to call the company in case they will replace it & wont knowing that she messed it up being a dummy.
