How much do you tip at a restaurant when service is good?

As someone who was a server for a good couple years, please tip your servers 20% if they did their job to standard. As a waitress, I made $2.50/hour plus tips. So when Mr/Mrs Cheap ass came to the 4-star hotel, had a $150 meal complete will full-service wine bottle opening and serving leave me $5, I can't pay my bills. Totally understandable if they're awful, but if you can't afford to or don't want to pay 20% tip, don't go out to eat. $2.50 an hour without tips is $20 for an 8-hour day. People don't think about this.

I always tip 20% even if the service wasn't great. That is how servers make their living and who knows, maybe that person was having a bad day or any such thing. It's not fair to cheat someone out of being able to pay their bills just cuz you're a little annoyed that they weren't as attentive as you liked or whatever.

I'm in Australia, we don't really tip at all here but when I was on my honeymoon in America we would tip at least 20%, usually more as we didn't really know how it worked and figured it was better to go over rather than under 😊

Min. Wage in Utah is 2$ and I used to be a server. So I leave 10$ or 20% minimum. Then if the service was good or great, I leave more☺️

Well for us if we go somewhere really cheap out waiter or waitress starts with a 20 dollar tip automatically (40 for somewhere expensive or more depending on the occasion) then as our visit continues we evaluate how their performance is and basically they determine how much they are left with. We had one incredibly terrible waitress she forgot my order when i clearly saw her write it down but got my fiances perfect to the T and thought it was ok to flirt with my fiance in front of my face she didn't pay me any type of attention at all but would sit by my fiance to ask if we needed anything else she let them put nuts on my salad when i told her no nuts because i am allergic then had the nerve to say i thought you said extra nuts lol i was just so irritated with her so needless to say she didn't get a tip at all and i didn't touch my food i asked a manager to take it back and i snitched lol now everytime we go there she eyeballs me 😂😂😂. So our tips are based on the quality of service but even if you do kinda bad you still end up with a tip well over the recommended tip amount unless you do what the girl i mentioned did

I'm not sure where I learned this but I was told to double the tax which is therefore 15%. I always tip 15% but now I'm thinking I should tip 20%.
