What to expect..

So I'm 38 weeks and today I have a doctors appointment, will they check to see if I'm dilated? How exactly do they check for dilation and does it hurt? I'm such a wimp when it comes to going to the doctor, so I just want to prepare myself so I'm not so nervous.

It really depends on your doctor. And they normally check by inserting 2 fingers in your vagina and pressing on the very top of your stomach, sometimes it hurts, but it's definitely an uncomfortable feeling. It only takes about 5 seconds though so it's pretty quick.
