What is everyone's take on...

Question

Tanning while pregnant ? I heard it's ok as long as you keep the fan on high and don't over heat your body. Opinions???

I can't imagine it's a good idea. You are basically baking your body and it's not good for you when you're not pregnant, let alone when you are. I don't know what research says or what a doc would say about it though. That's just my personal opinion. Maybe others have asked their doc or read about it?

I definitely would not. Besides the harm its doing to you (cancer and premature wrinkling), raising your body temperature too high can be detrimental to baby.

I would not. Not only does it cause your body to heat up, your skin is more sensitive when you are pregnant. Before I found out I was pregnant I went tanning for the first time in a couple months. I stayed in the whole 14 minutes, which is what I normally do. I fried!!! I was soooo red and itchy and started peeling the next day. I have never been that burnt in my whole life. It was weird. I never burn and if I do get a little pink it turns to tan the next day. A few days later I took a test and found out I was pregnant. That is why I burnt so bad! Don't risk anything, don't tan while pregnant.

I'm the first to admit I love having a tan but tanning is soooooo bad for your skin and your health. I had a laser treatment to kill the 50+ pre cancerous spots all over my face. It's not worth the risk. You don't want your babies to grow up without their Momma just because she wanted to be tan. 😔

Tanning outside in the sun, as long as it's not for a prolonged period, is okay. Tanning beds, however, are an absolute no no when you're pregnant.

For some reason when I'm pregnant my skin doesn't tan equally and I get all kind of spots! Lol that wasn't in a tanning bed but oh geeze I couldn't imagine what I would look like after that. I would make sure you know how your skin reacts to pregnancy first, I know women are at higher risk from sun burning when pregnant as well!
