Miscarriage?

I am 6 weeks and 2 days pregnant. Or was. This is my 4th pregnancy but I have never experienced a miscarriage before. This morning I started having abdominal cramping. I went to the bathroom and found out I was bleeding pretty heavily. It was bright red with clotting for about 6 hours and now it's just bright red and has slowed down a little. I have not had my first ob appt yet. I called the dr and she said to go to the ER if it didn't stop. I didn't because I was too embarrassed but I plan on calling the clinic tomorrow. Is there any way this isn't a miscarriage?

You should not be embarrassed. You should have gone to the ER. There is no way to tell without a ultrasound.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I had a miscarriage at 6wks in December - the day after my first OB appointment. The doctor is correct, no need to go to the ER if the pain and bleeding stay manageable (no more than 1 pad/hour I think was the threshold I was given).

Going in tomorrow is smart. Yes, it's possible it's not a miscarriage, and they can confirm - probably by checking HCG levels and your cervix. Unfortunately, there isn't much they can do either way, but it's good to get checked out. My HCG was crazy low (69 and should have been in the thousands) and I had to get weekly blood draws until it was less than 2 (took 3 weeks).

Hang in there. It doesn't make it much easier knowing it's common, but there's nothing to be ashamed of.

Don't ever be embarrassed. If your bleeding heavy go, if not just schedule a regular dr. Appt.
