What was your experience(s) with epidural?

This is my first pregnancy. I'm 28 weeks, 2 days. I am almost positive I'll be getting an epidural, but just curious how everyone's overall experiences with it are! Any extra info you can share would be very appreciated!

I have heard many different experiences and how it affects one isn't the same for others. Do what's best for you and talk it over with your doctor. I'm not getting one with this baby because of what happened to my first. However, I can also add despite the experience she is a healthy 6 year old.

My epidural was less painful than a normal shot.  I could still feel everything on one side for a while but after I fell asleep and woke up, I was completely numb but I could feel pressure like I had to go number 2.  The doctor came in and said I was crowning so they held my legs up and told me to push.  I pushed for 45 minutes and she was out.  I hope my next delivery will be just as easy

I had to get 2 epidurals because my labor was so long  the first one I had a bad reaction to and the left side of my face went numb & my left fingers went numb. It wore off after a little bit and the second one before my c-section was fine though. All in all well worth it!

I was able to walk about an hour later. Not a big deal for me and I was able to rest and just enjoy my husband and family before it was time.

I had one and the doc nicked a vein in my back and I had a huge bruise and bled a lot. I've since had a natural birth which wasn't bad at all.

I had one and within an hour I could get up and walk. Of course I got yelled at but I felt good.
