Difference in political opinion

Here is the deal, My SO and I argue over politics like no other. We are complete opposites. This is basically (thankfully) the only thing we really fight about. Like scream and cuss about. It usually ends with me in tears. We agree to not talk about it but then an hour later I get a stupid political meme sent to me and it starts again. I don't know what to do. He doesn't understand how much this is hurting our relationship. I would rather not talk about politics. But he is certain that I have to respect his views and listen to everything he has to say. When all he does is repeat himself. I respect some of his views like actual political opinions but not his racist comments. I don't support unhealthy racist shit. I will never support racism and he just doesn't get that.
