Your favorite car seats?

Question

So my husband is a RESEARCHER! I love it about him! I want to help look for the safest, easiest to use and more or less cost effective car seat/stroller combo for our first little one. What do you love about yours? Is there features that we will find super helpful?? Some we could rule out when looking?

Also, I have no idea about safety regulations and all that but we would love the Orbit system but the whole thing retails for $1100+. 😳 Hubs found some for sale on Craigslist but I'm not sure how I feel about "used" car seats. I think it's weird and potentially not safe. Thoughts?

We got the bugaboo cameleon. It's a bit on the pricy side, but it's literally rated the safest stroller on the market, plus it's a convertible stroller, so we can use it long term. Those two things justified the price in my book (not to mention all of the awesome features it has that not many other strollers do). Also, I have seen them at consignment shops used, or even new but at a huge discount! I love that it's has a bassinet, infant, and toddler seat; adjustable shocks, can be forward or rear facing, has great storage, has a great warranty and customer service hotline, etc. I also liked that you can use just about any car seat with it. We were considering the orbit, but you can only use the orbit car seat with the orbit stroller, and the orbit car seat doesn't have the best reviews (super heavy, gets baby's hot and sweaty, and has good safety ratings, but not the best). Needless to say, after all of my ridiculous amounts of research, I'm so glad I settled on my bugaboo cameleon.

We got the Chicco bravo le travel system
 along with the chicco keyfit 30 car seat. Reviews were great, and it's not too expensive. ($379 for everything)

I got the uppa baby vista stroller which I love. It comes with the seat and a bassinet. It a little big but what I love is that when we have number 2 we can add a second seat onto the stroller. I also love that it has huge storage underneath it's also a top rated stroller. I got the chicco keyfit car seat which I've read so many amazing reviews on. You can use this car seat with the uppa baby you just have to get an attachment for the stroller which I believe is around $30-$40. It is a pricey stroller but you can put 3 kids on it. 2 in seats and one On a skateboard type ride along in the back. So you'll be able to use it for a long time.

It's actually illegal in some states to sell used carseats. And you shouldn't buy a used one because even a minor accidemt with previous owner could cause a failure in the seat. Having said that, most seats have to meet the same standards of safety. We have a Chicco Cortina system and it is wonderful! Carrier seat is lightweight but safe. Stroller is a full size stroller that is lightweight and heavy duty. We've put the stroller through everything: zoos, shopping sprees, nature trails, wildlife reserves, and standard every day use. The seat we bought that is for longterm use (5lbs to 110lbs) is an Evenflo. Wouldn't trade it for the world! We'll be getting another for this baby when baby outgrow carrier. But it's also about what fits your needs. Our carseats may not fit properly in your vehicle. We have a van so plenty of room. :)

I'd buy used so long as it's clean and smoke free, but car seats have a 5yr safety life line so if check into that when buying used.

I love the maxi cosi range I used it with my first born and will be using again I believe it's incredibly safe and secure and not to mention comfy as she always wants to sleep in her seat lol
