Am i being selfish/mean?

I have a two year old daughter. I am pregnant with my second baby (36 weeks today) my husband side of the family lives 2 1/2 hours away from us. I explained to my husband that we sould atleast wait a month before they should come up because we need to get baby girl use to the new baby. I also said that you dont want them to come and they focous more on the baby and she feel left out.... He states this all to his family and they feel some type of way that we are saying this. Am i wrong? In addion to all that they will not be staying in a hotel room they would be staying in my 2 BR APT. And i personally dont think i would feel up to it. Tell me what you think...

They should definitely wait especially because they would be staying with you. Maybe compromise and say they can come if they stay in a hotel.

If they were planning on staying somewhere else, it would be fine for them to visit earlier, but if they think it's okay to stay at your place, right after you have a baby, that's a huge imposition for you and your little family!
Tell hubby they are welcome to visit earlier if they are going to stay in a hotel, but you won't accept them being in your space while you and your little ones settle into your new routine.

My isl, mil, and fil are coming to stay with us for 3 weeks about 2 weeks after our due date we are pretty excited for them to come visit and enjoy baby and stay with us for a little while..

Can they stay in a hotel? I don't think it's unreasonable to not want house guests overnight, but if they can make other arrangements for sleeping you should allow them earlier. It's only 2.5 hrs they could always do a day trip.

Yeah...I was going to suggest letting them come, but when you wrote the staying with you part...you aren't wrong.  If they want to visit so bad tell them they have to stay somewhere else.

If I was your husband I would make sure your family had the same rules.

You could always give them the choice to come sooner if they can find another place to stay because you don't have the room.

My family is the one out of town 4 hours away and if my husband said something that dumb I'd be really pissed off.

Same boat here, it is more than even that they are lovely people they can drive me insane! I hope they won't come but haven't say anything to them, I feel a bit guilty (I also have a toddler of 2 1/2 and my parents in law live 2 hours from here )

Lol im not letting anyone see baby for first month if they dont have a flu shot, also told my sister who lives 6 hours away i dont want her to come down till month out after baby comes our daughter will be 21 months n we wanna get a routine down with new baby n our daughter before anyone comes n stays with us! So considering ull have a baby, 2 year old n will be recovering i would want as much down time with ur kids as possible with out everyone in n out ur house
