If you have a pet, please read..
On Sunday I took my 5 lb yorkie outside to pee, then when I brought him back inside I noticed he had leaves and twigs stuck on his fur, so I decided to give him a bath. As I was giving him a bath, he started throwing up and stopped trying to jump out of the bathtub like he usually does. I got him out right away, wrapped him in his towel and layer him on my bed. He was just laying there and I noticed his tongue was turning white. I immediately rushed to the vet, on my way there I called them to let them know I was coming. They did all types of tests on him. His temp was really low, and he was shaking and couldn't stand on his own, he was barely breathing. We were there for hours, I was crying uncontrollably. After a couple hours his temp started rising again, and the tests came back that the machine wasn't even reading his liver, that's how high it was. They gave me antibiotics and a medicine for his liver and after a couple more hours I was able to take him home. But I had to watch him very closely and barely let him outside. His bloodwork all came back normal. Basically what the vet thought by all his symptoms and tests was that he ate something that intoxicated him. I had an appointment again on Tuesday. They did all the same tests and I just got the results, the liver came back very high, but at least this time they were able to get a number. The vet said that she is going to prescribe me another antibiotic and I should continue giving glad him the other two pills also until they all finish. When I got of the phone with her I started doing some research, and stumbled onto something about flea and tick medicine making dogs sick, and sometimes killing them. So I started looking into more information on that. And I found so much posts and articles on so many animals getting sick and some even dying from getting poisoned through the skin from the shampoo. I never even thought of mention this to my vet, because I have used it before and he has been fine. I called her back right away to tell her about this, but she was in the middle of a appointment. She is supposed to call me back. I just had to post this right away, so maybe someone reads this and doesn't have the same things happen to them. It was so scary, I thought my baby had died the way he laid there not moving and with his tongue white. I am so grateful that he is alive. Now my husband and I do think let him out of our sight. I even walk him on a leash outside in our yard.
