Going out with a parent?

I just recently started this relationship with a guy who has a 2 year old girl at home. The baby mom and him don't share custody so the baby lives with him. I'm honestly concern about how this will work out. Have any of you gone out with someone who is a parent? What's your advice to me?

It's hard. Very hard. You have to be strong, have the patience of a saint, great communication and team work. Without that it's going to be hard. But worth it.

Really tough situation, tales alot of strength and faith. I was in same boat and it seemed the older the kids got the more it got harder, and when I wanted to be a parent he wasn't ready to have another one...

It's tough but if you think he's worth it go for it. Just remember you'll never come first the child will. That's the hard part for some women. A lot of women get used to dating men without children and enjoy being their top priority and when a child is involved you have to take a back seat. I love my husband to death along with his daughter but it does suck having to deal with her mom because she is rude to me and my husband all the time.

I say if he is a really good man do not let him having a child hold you back.  Plus it shows you what type of man he is if he has custody.  I am a mother with a crappy father to my children so to me it is a huge turn on to see a good devoted father.  That is husband material to me.  But everyone is different :)

My when my husband and I started dating his little girl was 18 months old. Him and her mother have shared custody. The only problems we have ever faced have been baby mama drama related. If he has sole custody I don't see what would be so difficult about it unless you really didn't want kids. Usually the hardest part is dealing with the mother but it doesn't sound like she's involved. You just have to be ready for the responsibility of being a mother basically from the start of your relationship.

My Husband has 3 to a previous relationship with have joint custody. I never wanted to date men with children before but when he came along he was too good to let go. Now im a happy step Mum. Love his children like they are my own. The only issue we ever faced was his crazy jealous ex but you dont have to deal with that. I would honestly say go for it. 2 is a lovely age and im sure you will fall in love with her x
