Bassinet or Crib?

I want to use a bassinet for the first couple months considering it was so helpful with my last and our bedroom is not huge. We're trying to move at the moment but afraid it won't happen before baby is here so hubby is saying switch rooms with our boys and we can save money and just use our crib, which is a horrible idea because they lose so much space. I just feel I have no say in what I can get this pregnancy because it's our last baby so his mom is getting all this hand me down stuff. It's getting so stressful. What do you guys think is a  better way to go; bassinet in our room and hopefully move before crib time or just switch rooms and use a crib?
