C-Section Shame?

Question

Any other mamas out there that have had a c-section or wil have one feel ashamed or has anyone in your family made you feel ashamed for having a c-section?

There is NO shame in it mamas! I was lucky to not need one, but I will admit that the possibility did (and still does) scare me to death! YOU are the heroes, the birthing warriors, the strong ones, and the ones that deserve WAY more credit than me and my simple little "all natural" birth. You are the ones that not only face major surgery along with birth, but more often than not something that could potentially be wrong with you or the baby to need a c section to begin with. You are the strong ones, not the "all natural" crowd. I was able to have the birth I wanted and I am lucky for that, but I am not a better mother for it. There is NO shame in doing what is safest for you and your child. A healthy mom and baby is a successful birth. If anyone tells you otherwise then that person doesn't deserve to be in your life.

There is no reason to feel ashamed. C-sections are done when medically necessary to help protect you and the baby! I would straight up smack somebody if they tried to shame someone for a c-section.

I had one with my first pregnancy. No one shamed me for it and I didn't shame myself for it, it was what was safe for baby.

With this pregnancy I'm really hoping to have a vaginal birth but we'll see!

Yes people make it seems like it's the "easy" way out. Ummmm no. C-sections are way harder than vaginal. Period. I was in labor for two days, pushed 2 1/2 hrs and then had major surgery. For this pregnancy I will have a planned repeat C/S so I won't labor but will still have a 6-week recovery and lots of pain. Women that suffer (yes, SUFFER) from having to have a C/S should be applauded, not condemned.

I have to have a scheduled C-Section & most likely will be put under anesthesia due to a previous broken back & spinal cord damage. I still have a lot of titanium in my lower vertebrates (major hardware down there) & going into natural labor isn't an option for me. A spinal has less than 20% chance of effectiveness but we will try anyways. My husband & I knew all of this preconception & even though it's not ideal I have no issue with it at all. It's the only way I can have a child safely so when I tell people I'm having one & they are so quick to "oh I'm sorry that's unfortunate" I just reassure them it's actually not because Im blessed to be able to have a child when they told me I shouldn't.

Bringing a child into the world is very momentous and it doesn't matter how they get here. Natural, C-section, either way life has been formed and created and has made their way out if the womb in the safest way possible.

My grandma hasn't made comments to me directly but has made them to other people while I have been in earshot. Saying as a woman you were designed to give birth, nothing compares to actually labouring and giving birth. There is no nicer feeling than when the baby comes out and all the effort is worth it (I could go on) at the end of the day, my baby arrived safe and sound and I usually hit back with "I'm too posh to push anyway"

Never feel ashamed of how your baby arrived in the world, as long as they arrive healthy that's all that matters.

My MIL keeps reminding me "ever so sweetly" that she had 2 babies all natural "not even a Tylenol". We are still waiting to see if the baby moves but as of right now she is breech and I just keep reminding her that whatever is healthiest for the baby and the MAMA is what we are going to do.

I will be having a scheduled C/S due to medical reasons and I don't care what anyone has to say, this is MY son and it's MY birth story.. No one else's .. I know what's best for me, my baby and most importantly my health! Don't feel ashamed momma's!

No shame it was hard for me cause I mentally prepared my self for regular birth but ended up getting a emergency c section n my mom n older sister never been through c sections so lucky my 2nd older sister has n my Nina and my Tia have had 1 so they helped me out a lot and the only person who made me bad about was my little bro cause he dosent under stand what I went through he thought I was faking it but I was I. So much pain but now I'm hoping for a regular birth again with baby number 2 but if I get another c section I'm ready 💪🏽 and know what to expect
