Do you believe that using the pill for years before trying can make you less fertile

Studies show that length of time using BC has no effect on fertility. This holds true in my situation. I was on it for 10 years and got pregnant within 3 months.

It's scientifically proven that it doesn't affect fertility. Anecdotally, my older sister was on birth control for 16 years and got pregnant this fall after being off it for 2-3 months...

With all due respect, I don't think that most of the people (if not any) who answered, "Yes, it interferes with fertility," have read the research before coming to a conclusion. It's been repeatedly and scientifically shown that the daily pill does not interfere with fertility. In fact, the pill is used to "jump start" a healthy menstral cycle to help women (with irregular cycles) actually get pregnant. I was on the daily pill for 15 years (I said 13 earlier but counted wrong, lol pregnancy brain). I got pregnant after only two months of stopping the pill and TTC. Depo shots and implants may be a different story.

I was on the pill for 7 years, it took 6 months for my period to go back to the way it was pre-pill. That month we were trying to avoid getting pregnant, apparently we suck at that. ;) Just under 9 weeks now!

I was only on the pill for 3 years but when I stopped and tried to get pregnant I got pregnant within the first month. I waited 3 months before trying.

I was on the pill pretty much for over 12 years but I would stop taking it like 2-3 months every few years. I went off it in March and got pregnant in end of June. So took me 4 months off birth control. And I was on it forever

There isn't any scientific evidence that long-term pill use interferes with fertility. There IS proof that sometimes it can take a while for your body to start producing its own hormones after you stop taking the synthetic ones. It took me 3 months to have a period after being on the pill for 8 years. My friend is on her 5th month of waiting for her period after stopping the pill and it still hasn't arrived. We're both 25, a healthy weight, and had regular periods before starting the pill. Everyone's body is different, but I'd definitely avoid hormonal birth control of any sort of you're hoping to get pregnant soon.

The only thing that impacts the ability to get pregnant is a prior medical condition that can interfere with fertility. Birth control and abortions have ZERO impact on a woman's ability to get pregnant. (I know that both of these were not brought up here, but I have seen them mentioned in other posts, so I just wanted to throw it out there.)

I worried about this too. After being on it for ten years I got pregnant on my fourth month off the pill :)
