Circumcision, yes or no? Why?

My son is circumcised :) i don't care honestly what others think about it, some would say i'm a bad mom for doing it but I just laugh because half of them smoke and drink while pregnant yet try to preach to me. Hahahahaha

No. There's really no legitimate medical reason that I have experienced. Unless it's discovered as the child is a little older and he NEEDS it to function properly. Ive heard of that. But personally I wouldn't want it done to me, we don't know how many nerve endings are being cut off or what kind of sensation that has. I would be pissed if it happened to me. It's not my concern what it looks like, or if my son looks the same as his father. That just seems kind of weird and shallow to be concerned with how it looks. I've known plenty of guys who aren't and my girlfriends son isn't and has never had a single issue with it "causing infections" if you clean it like you would any other body part it's fine. There's no reason I see to cut off all those nerve endings and cause so much pain to a baby just for cosmetics. Unless he's having trouble peeing or the skin is too tight, etc. there is no justifiable reason in my mind to make my son go through that pain wether he remembers or not. It's not my body so I don't feel it's my choice to make just based on how I think it should look or not. If it were a thing to cut female parts this way we'd be suffering a huge loss in sensation. How do we know it's not the same for boys? My son will not be. Just my point of view.

It certainly is a very personal decision. I have two boys, a 4 year old and a 22 month old, and both are uncircumcised. Neither of them has EVER had an infection. I clean their penises well and am starting to teach my four year old how to properly clean himself. In my opinion, it's a lesson in self hygiene and cleanliness. I'm not going to mutilate an infant based on looks and fear of not cleaning his penis correctly. Just clean the area with great precaution and give the required attention

I say yes bc I work in a surgery center and I see all these babies who didn't get it done has to get to get done ages range from 3 m all the way up teens :-/ when they could have just avoided surgery to begin with (just my view I don't have w boy but if I did I would )

There is no medical reason to do it from what I have ever been told by a dr. I was perviously married and so I went with the theory that if the father is or isn't then that's what the child should be. So that when growing up they never wonder why they look different then daddy. I now have two boys who are not (previous marriage) and two boys from my current marriage who are. I have seemed to get myself in a pickle. My husband didn't want them to not be circumcised regardless of the theory so that's where we went in our decision making.

I see it as a personal choice between the parents. For me my son if I have one will be circumcised. My ex wasn't and he wished he was. I don't want my son to feel like he's different from people in my opinion. But my SO has his done so we will have our child's done.

I plan on circumcising. I had to read a lot into it before making a decision but I think it's what's best. You have to be extra careful cleaning him up or he could get infections and I hear most kids will have to go through it when their older anyways due to getting infections and what not. If it's gonna benefit my baby and keep him out of pain in the long run then why not do it? I'm not against people that don't do it, I just don't see why they have such a problem with it

Lol wow, some of these responses are crazy! Anywho, the hubby isn't circumcised and our 5 year old son isn't. Neither have had issues with cleanliness, infections, etc. Just like my daughter has had to learn to properly clean her vagina, my uncircumcised son is learning how to properly clean his penis. My husband and I have been together for almost 14 years and I've had NO issues with infections due to his uncircumcised penis, so to whoever said that...um no. His brothers and their father are also uncircumcised. It's purely preference. There's no medical reason for it so we chose not to put our son through that.
