5 years ago, I lost my first baby who had Trisomy 13. I'm now 17 weeks pregnant and see a high risk OB. At my first few appointments I brought up the need for me to get a blood test done considering what happened in my last pregnancy. The OB I was seeing said "oh no. We only do that for woman over the age of 35 who have ACTUAL risks in their pregnancies. And you're young so no need to worry." I thought it was strange but just trusted what she was saying. At my last appointment a different OB asked why there was no blood test on my record and why I haven't seen a specialist yet and when I told her what I was told she was appalled! That day I got a blood test and an appointment with a specialist within a week. I'm so upset it's taken so long to be treated like I'm supposed to, especially since I'm nearing the point I was when I lost my first baby. I'm happy there's progress though. Fingers crossed!
