Elective c-section anyone?

Question

This might be a silly question, but is anyone thinking about getting a voluntary c-section? This is my first baby and I really have no idea what vaginal birth is like or what to expect. I'm a wuss when it comes to pain and I've heard so many stories which make me wonder if/how I'll be able to handle it. 
Granted c-section is major surgery and I know recovery is harder than regular birth. But I also heard it's a less painful way to get the baby out. 
Did it ever pass your mind?

I had a vaginal birth and was on my feet, business as usual by the next day. My friends who've had csection had a much harder recovery and spent more time in the hospital.

I'll take a day of labor and delivery pain over weeks of recovery pain any day. Especially when your sleep deprived taking care of a newborn.

Hello so when I was pregnant with my son I never had contractions nothing happened I was a week and a half late they did an ultrasound my son's shoulders were to big so we went ahead with the section he was born at 10 lbs 9 oz and looking like a football player he was 25 inch at birth yea the pain sucks but so does life sometimes . I was up and walking that night the worst part is getting.up out of bed or a chair but that goes away in like a week . Don't listen do what you want .

A lot of people are trying to scare you.  You aren't down for weeks after a c-section.  I thought my recovery from surgery was horrible (I'd  never hadany kind of surgery before)  but I was up and back to almost normal activity after a week.  If you keep up on your pain meds, and have help,  you'll be fine.  You can't lift over 10-15 lbs for a few weeks,  but unless you had a huge baby,  you'd still be able to lift them.

My first I secretly wanted a csection lol. I had complications and ended up having to have one, so I was kind of happy about it. Mostly because it took the guesswork out of everything. I really think that's what scared me the most about vaginal birth, the "when is it going to happen" and how will I handle it, etc. So for this baby I'm having a repeat csection.

I had a vaginal birth wth my first and am planning the same for my second. My main concern is the recovery time and not being able to lift my toddler or newborn but I also hate the way my hospital does c sections. There is no surgical suite on the maternity floor, you have to go down two floors and across the hospital to the main OR (and hope one is open). And hey bring the baby up to the nursery while you stay in the recovery room, so you are separated from your baby for at least an hour if not more. If you are set on a c section and understand the lifting restrictions and recovery AND your OB will do it (many will not without a medical reason) look into how the hospital handles them. At the hospital where I used to work they had the c section suite on the maternity floor and always ready in case of an emergency AND the recovery room there as well so you could bond with your baby as soon as you were out of surgery (if you felt up to it). Sorry this is so long but hopefully it's helpful.

I would NEVER elect to have a c-section unless it was necessary . I've had two and am having a third. First one was an emergency , second was because of complications in first -I have a titles uterus and my cervix doesn't dilate past 5(with help)
Any way both were not pain free. During the surgery it's a different kind of pain. It's painful pressure and uncomfortable pushing on all your organs. You can't move anything from the arms down which is terrifying . You then can't do ANYTHING on your own for days s f the recovery pain hits with in hours. The pain is internal , external and all over your body. It takes MONTHS to get back to semi normal. It's very difficult with a newborn . Who's going to help you with baby first 6 weeks of recovery ? Cause you seriously can't move without assistance. Not trying to scare you , I just think people don't understand how serious of a surgery is and how hard the recovery can be when you have to take care of a newborn . Good luck !:)

Normal delivery doesn't have to be terrible. I had my daughter vaginally and it was an awesome experience. I am sooooo terrified of a c-section, and the recovery. I'll have a 20 mo toddler when this baby is born and I need to be able to lift 30 lbs!  It's crazy how different people have such different fears.

I'm a ftm so I don't know about pain but 
1 the baby gets antibodies from the vagina
2 easier breastfeeding
3 easier recovery
4 the feeling that you can do anything
 That's why I'm planning natural

My sister told me her c section wasn't bad.  The first week was hard, but by week 2 she was getting back to normal.  She was able to go out for walks and take care of her baby.  I think it's different for everyone.
