Anemic

Can being anemic make your periods long. I have been on my period since thanksgiving and it will end for a day then come back the next day about every 3 weeks since thanksgiving. I am anemic for about 8 years now I have not taken vitamins for it. Dr did blood work and all hormones thyroid levels are all normal no PCOS they said it was just a weird period. Didn't mention anything about the anemia being the cause but I googled it and maybe it might be?? Any suggestions thoughts?? Thanks!!
