Wine before IVF?

Question

I love red wine. I enjoy a glass or two a week. I'm starting my first round of IVF in a month, and will be on birth control in the meantime. Is it okay to enjoy a few glasses of wine this month? I've read mixed reviews on this, not sure what to think.

It seems to me like you should enjoy your last hurrah, but not in excess. One glass at a time 1-2 times a week should not harm your body.

I'm no doctor but here's my experience:
Cycle 1, abstained from alcohol. Got 3 eggs, resulted in 0 viable embryos.
Cycle 2, relaxed a little bit. Had 2-3 sparkling wines per week up to 10 days pre-egg collection. Got 4 eggs, resulted in 3 viable, good quality embryos.
Cycle 3, relaxed again. Had about 4 pear ciders (lower alcohol content) per week up to 10 days pre-egg collection. Got 3 eggs, resulted in 1 viable, high quality embryo.

All embryos were for freezing. If we'd planned fresh transfers after egg collections, I imagine if have been a more stringent to ensure implantation.

Also, I was having traditional acupuncture & taking 3 teaspoons a day of maca root powder daily during cycles 2&3. Throughout I took: coenzyme q10, royal jelly, vitamin d, omega 3 fish oil & zinc. I also switched to decaffeinated coffee.

All you have is 1-2 glasses a week? If so, I think you will totally be fine. Ask your nurse or doctor to be sure. The nurse at my clinic said it was fine when I asked her. I'm sure it's better not to drink at all but wine helps me with the stress!
