Hook effects....possible MC?

Ok so I started spotting brown the evening before the 14th. This is exactly how my other 2 miscarriages started so I was so upset and convinced tht I lost the baby and am just waiting for the blood. I was convinced not only bc of the spotting but I lost like all symptoms. I didn't feel pregnant anymore and I took another test and the line was lighter. So I was devastated especially after already losing 2 Babies last year. So I work in OB and a nurse friend tells me that there's something called the hook effect where ur test lines get lights once ur hcg gets so high. But if U dilute it, ur darker line appears....any one heard of this? What do you ladies think? I'm afraid to be hopeful. Add in my boobs are tender when I push on em and my nipples r sore still...I'm so emotionally drained
