Is it safe to dye hair if you don't bleach it first?

My doctor said it should be fine but to try and get high/low lights or something so my scalp doesn't absorb as much, and to wait until 2nd trimester. I don't think it's so much because of science as it is just being preventative and not taking unnecessary risks. Which I'm fine with, so I am getting lowlights in a few weeks!

Just make sure the dye doesn't have any ammonia in it and you will be fine!!

The dying chemicals are bad for you it should not be done but if you must do foils or something that makes sure the dye doesn't touch your skin.
