The pill and acne

So I recently went on the combined pill just over a week ago and I have been experiencing really bad painful break outs :( I have never had perfect skin but it has got a lot worse since going on the pill. Could the pill be causing the breakouts because it's changing my hormone levels? Will the breakouts clear up once I have been on the pill for longer (and the hormones have settled down) and does any one have any tips to treat breakouts effectively? Please help!! X
