Syatic nerve?

What does syatic pain feel like?  Is it constant or does it come and go?

Okay,  thanks ladies. Iv been having the excruciating pain in my lower back, of course it hurts so much more when I bend over or walk. But it doesn't stop hurting when I sit or lay down. It's been going on for about a week now.  I go to the doctor on Tuesday but I'm sure they'll tell me it's nerve pain.

It can be both.  The muscle around the nerve can ache while the nerve being pinched is usually sharp and happens with movement.  A lot of times trying to compensate for the pinching causes you to walk funny which makes the muscles from you lower back down to your upper thigh ache.

When I'm not pregnant I very rarely have issues with mine even though the nerve is running straight through the muscle. The further along I'm getting though, the more frequent the pain becomes. Today I've been ok. Yesterday I had sharp pain running from my right hip, through the buttock and down my leg. It makes the muscle cramp up and when it gets really bad my right leg will intermittently go numb or burn/tingle. If I'm laying down I cannot lift my right leg more then an inch or so or swing it to the side from a lie down position without pain. The longer I have to be on my feet during the day, usually the worse the pain is.
