I had my first prenatal appt on Friday at 8w3d. They did a physical exam, asked questions to determine risk factors, took blood and urine for testing, and gave us lots of information. The office and staff were wonderful... But.... They didn't do anything to see or hear the baby. Is this normal?

I see a lot of people on here posting about early ultrasounds, dopplers, etc. and measuring the baby against the LMP date. Did anyone else get nothing like that at the first appt? I loved the office but my husband and I both left a little disappointed because we expected to see our little one and get confirmation that he/she is in there and everything is happening as it should do far.
