Early labor?

So this is a very ignorant question, but I keep getting curious and anxious thinking about going into early labor. I am reading all these mommas posts about having their babies so early (31 weeks, 34 weeks...) and thank God and NICU nurses they all seem to be doing well. But my question is...
Can this happen to any momma, or is there usually an underlying issue that may cause a woman to have her baby so early?

It can happen to anyone more common with someone who has had underlying problems though.

My mom always says that you didn't put the baby in and won't take it out. I tend to be a worrier but that helps me remember I actually cannot control it. You can be healthy and trust baby will come when they are supposed to!

My first was overdo and with this one I spent the night in L&D in preterm labor at 27 weeks. Both girls perfectly healthy I'm just on my feet and more stressed with this one.

It can happen to any mommy. All my babies were born between 35 and 36 weeks. 15 yrs ago I had a completely normal pregnancy until one night at 32 weeks I went into preterm labor and was terrified, Drs were able to stop my labor and I went home a week later. 3 weeks later I had my lil guy and he was very healthy. Now I'm pregnant with baby boy #4 and Drs have put me on these progesterone shots to hopefully prevent another early baby but no guarantees. Don't worry yourself on early labor, modern medicine has come a long way to help stop labor unless your water ruptures.

My first son was full term (overdue, actually). No health issues the entire pregnancy, textbook perfect.

My second son was born at 34 weeks. I'd had no contractions, no pain, no bleeding, no blood pressure issues, no infection, no signs. Just one night I lifted my older son into bed and my water broke.  They admitted me and my baby was born 18 hours later.  They still have no idea why he came early.
