Piercing babies ears?!

I'm having a little girl in June. For all mothers who have had their girls ears pierced, or are having little girls for which they plan to, what age range do you think is best? I'm just trying to get some opinions, no hate please!!

Doctors don't recommend ear piercing after the 4th month shot. I got my daughters pierced as soon as she got her shots and don't regret it one bit. She didn't cry or was fussy. She's now almost 6 years old and she loves them. If she grows not to like them eventually she can't take them of. Tissue will grow and leave a tiny scar that not even she will notice.

My family always did it on baby's first birthday but when the topic came up with my husband he said he wouldn't want our daughter to have it done until she was at least a preteen. I'm ok with that, so that's what we'll do.

OK. So my daughter got her ears pierced for her first birthday. Went terrible, they put it on crooked and couldn't even get it back off. My baby girl was wailing while my husband pulled on her sore ear to take it off. (Use your pediatrician!) Besides that aspect my daughter ignored them until three! Then she refused to stop pulling them out. So I left them out and they closed up. Well when she turned six she asked me if she could get them pierced so I took her. I am having a girl and will be waiting this time for her to ask. If your leaning towards getting them done I would recommend asap and only through the pediatrician. I even took my six year old to the pediatrician and no problems.

I did both my daughters at 3 months with real gold in case of allergies. They are 7 & 5 and love them. Neither of them cried for more then 5 seconds. If I have a girl this time then I will be doing same thing!

It's cultural for a lot of people. I'm Indian and I got mine done as a baby and saw my younger sisters ears pierced. If I have a girl, I'll be taking my baby in to the pediatrician's office to do it - a lot of them offer it and that's much safer than using a piercing gun. Some dermatologists also offer it. I'd even take my kid into a reputable tattoo place (they are very very very clean and take pride in it) over a place at the mall that doesn't use sterile surgical needles. Babies ears heal so fast, and they forget in a few mins.

My sister in law got both my nieces ears pierced and I will be doing my baby girls ears when she gets her shots. My nieces never messed with them.

My best friend got her daughters done for her 4th birthday. She barely cried at all, and turns out she's allergic to all metals except 14k gold or better. If I have a daughter I'm thinking about waiting a few years because I'm allergic to most metals, and she might be too.

The only place that will pierce a baby's ears is a place that will use a piercing gun. Those are extremely unsafe and cause a lot of trauma to the ear. I will be waiting until my daughter actually wants them pierced, then I will take her to a shop where they can do it correctly.
