Anybody not doing The glucola testing?

So far I'm not keen on the testing, and want to know if I'm the only crazy one who wants to skip it.

I wasn't having a single symptom of having gestational diabetes. I did the one hour and failed. I took the 3 hour and failed again. It turned out that I not only had it, I had it pretty severely. If I had skipped, I could have really hurt my baby, or worse. I was on insulin and a strict diet for the remainder of my pregnancy, and had to have a c-section because my baby was very big due to all the excess sugar despite my every effort to protect him. My diabetes did not go away after delivery like it usually does either. I am type 2 now - before my pregnancy, I was in excellent health with zero sugar problems.

Please, just take the test. An uber sweet drink and an hour of flipping through magazines while you wait is seriously no big deal. I don't even want to think what would have happened if I had opted out because I felt perfectly fine.

At least ask about doing the monitoring test, you monitor your sugars multiple times a day for a week or two

Don't just skip doing anything to check, GD can be dangerous.

I researched the ingredients and am not a fan of the BVO some brands contain. I asked my doctor if there are any alternatives. Did you end up taking it? Everyone I've  talked to about it thinks I'm crazy.

Most of the time women do not show any symptoms of GD.  You should consult with your doctor about any decisions. I know here you have to take it. It's just a blood test, it won't hurt :p

I denied mine. I'm hypoglycemic and knew it was an extremely low risk for me to have GD. My midwife agreed with me after seeing my blood test.

I am going to talk to my doctor about other options. I've taken a glucose test before, not pregnancy related, and it made me violently ill.

My doctor just gets me to do a finger prick test after a meal instead of the glucose test. I'm extremely low risk for GD and it was actually her idea for me to skip it.
