Crib bumpers!?

Question

So I just saw a contraversial post about crib bumpers, the post was more about the people criticizing about someone else's negative comment. From the post I kind of got that crib bumpers are dangerous! I wanted more info! Like I was just looking about what crib bumper to buy right now I thought it was necissary item rather than decoration about apparently it's dangerous! I'm a new mom or will be in ayahuasca so I'm new to all the baby stuff and need all the info and insight I can get!?

It's recommend to not have anything at all in the crib with the baby (blankets, stuffed animals, etc.). And bumpers can smother if baby rolls his face into it. I'm just getting the breathable mesh kind so he can't put his arms through. But will be able to breath fine if he rolls

I have been a big proponent behind these posts. Girls get mad because I comment letting them know how dangerous they are, because I care about the babies safety. So many babies die every year because they smother against the bumper. It's also just as dangerous to have blankets, toys, and pillows in the crib.

They can be dangerous yes. They do make a breathable one that is often recommended. It kind of looks like a mesh screen in a way.

I got this one for my daughter because her legs would get stuck between the crib bars. They helped so much and she never rolled close to it. I got mine at target

As many others said, the mesh breathable ones are fine. We had to get one for my daughter because she'd stick her feet out, get stuck and cry. Some argue the regular ones are fine, but I just figured why chance it, especially if there is a safer option.

We got a breathable bumper... Only because my nephew stuck his leg out of his crib and got it stuck and they have to break the crib

I used bumpers and had no problems. I only put them on the shorter sides of the crib and the longer back side of the crib and left the front open so I could see my son. I was definitely on high alert at first, but as time went by you become more comfortable and start to trust your mommy senses more.

When they are a newborn it's not a huge deal because they don't really move so they aren't going to roll over to the edge and suffocate but when they get bigger it's more of an issue. I got the mesh breathable ones. Mostly just so limbs won't be sticking out and such lol
