Prom 2016 help

I need some personal opinions and help for my prom this year, I live in the uk, and I'm a size 8 but have a curved-ish body, I'm not stick thin or anything, but I've looked endlessly for dresses and found two I like (I'm going for black) but ones a midi and the other is a maxi, would a midi be appropriate? But anyway, I'm not a huge fan on my legs because of their size, so I'm unsure as to whether i would even suit it, please give me your personal opinion as I would appreciate it so much, I've posted a pic of my legs just to give an idea of what they look like 😁 many thanks xx
