Best Birth Control Option?

When I'm on my period, my cramps are so ridiculously bad that I can't get out of bed sometimes. Or I'll get the feeling that I need to throw up. It feels like a knife is being twisted into my uterus. My mom always tells me that she wants to put me on birth control to help with the pain, because she said she used to get cramps as bad as I do when she was younger. I've also just recently started having sex with my boyfriend, but we use condoms every single time and he pulls out just in case, so the birth control would just be an extra safety precaution when it comes to that. I would like to try avoiding side affects like weight gain and acne, but if that's inevitable then I'll have to deal with it. What is the best method? Please give me your opinion. Thank you!!
