Lock codes on your boyfriend/hubby phone

Do you see this as an issue? I don't go through people phones but when there is a lock code on the phone I get suspicious. When I picked the phone up, he said "what you doing"...everytime we together the phone be on silent. He takes the phone to the bathroom. Again, why do guys have these lock codes on the phone? Either the phone be under them sleeping, or on the floor. I don't care much about checking a guy phone but I don't hear it ringing or vibrating for hours, damn is it dead lmao
