Vacuum

Ladies I need your help. I'm a clean freak, and when I clean something I want it spotless. The vacuum I have now was used and old when my grandma gave it to me, which I appreciate because I needed a vacuum, but now it's making a bigger mess than anything. It's a bissell. It's a really old vacuum. I need something that's light, picks up everything on the floor even the tiniest stuff and has a handle to vacuum little areas. What would you guys recommend ? What's a great vacuum brand? My fiancée is buying me one this weekend!
