These are horror stories and I'd say WAYYY over the top. Doctors wouldn't do this stuff because so many law suits could come from things like this so from a nurse I doubt half of this would ever happen!

Don't discredit anyone's birth experience, because some women do in fact have traumatizing births. But the number one factor to protecting yourself and enjoying your experience is communication. Make sure the staff lets you know each medical procedure that needs to take place and why. If they fail to do so let them know that you have no problem changing hospitals. It's your right as a patient to know what's happening to your body.

Don't let this scare you... I've never met anyone that has been birth "raped"... It might be a thing, or it could be another internet fad to scare people. Idk. But chances are, you'll be fine. Just make sure you know your doctor's and that you've got a good support system. It seems that the ladies in this post went into labor alone

Listen this is a real thing, I've been learning about it recently. Watch the documentary the business of being born, it's on Netflix. I know it sounds super 1800s, but I'd recommend a well trained midwife. Stuff like that won't happen with them according to what I've read! Best of luck with the baby!!

I have to wonder about alot of this though. Much of it seems exaggerated. Some of these procedures happen because if they don't then the baby and/or the mother will die. Doctors take an oath to do everything within their ability to save a person, make them healthy again. If the women were unprepared for things like emergency c-sections, to save their baby, then... not going to say it because too many will be offended.

After I gave birth a nurse came in and took my baby out of the room without saying a word to me I pressed the alert button and was told my baby would be back shortly... that's my child they shouldn't be able to do even routine things without permission it's so terrible! I've had three kids and all births had zero complications all three experiences I was told I "needed" to do things I know where not needed

Have your cell phone on you and if anything starts to go down that you don't like tell them you'll call 911.  You'll want to make sure someone is in the room with you. Odds are good you won't have any trouble with anything like this.

I've heard stories like this :( I made my birth plan already and covered every single detail possible. I also discussed with my fiancé, and stated on my plan, the importance of him staying by my side no matter what. It's sad that even in our most vulnerable state of bringing another human into this world, we have to have trust in no one. And sadly these stories make it difficult for us to believe in proper practices that are still out there.

Please don't discredit these women. I wound up with an obstetric recto-vaginal fistula after my doctor sewed my anus lining into my vagina in a botched episiotomy repair. Weeks later I had the RVF repaired along with grafting to fix the episiotomy repair. I couldn't stand, couldn't walk. The humiliation I felt was crippling. These things do happen!
