What the heck is a mucus plug?! I've seen so many people talk about it but it's the first time I've heard of it!! This is my first pregnancy so I'm super dumbfounded about everything!! Lol

I'm a first time mom to be. And what I think the mucus plug is. Some sort of mucus that comes out right before you give birth. It is basically like a plug that stops the baby from coming out, so when it comes out basically the baby is ready to come out,

It's a mucousy plug that blocks the opening of the cervix to prevent bacteria from entering into the uterus. 
I lost mine the day I went to the hospital because I was having contractions. It was literally a huge giant bloody booger looking thing. You can lose it when you're nearing your due date or you may not lose it.
