Wait, you went to the hospital because you think you're pregnant? Were you passing out or unable to keep food down and dehydrated or you just wanted a pregnancy test? Is there a reason you went to a hospital instead of dollar tree for an hpt? I'm not sure where you live but most insurances have a 200 dollar copay for er plus whatever your responsibility is after insurance pays. I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just hoping you are well and as I work in healthcare, confused by why someone would use the hospital for a test you can do at home, or your md office, or planned parenthood, or some cities have free pregnancy test centers.
Hospital!!!
I'm at the hospital because I've been feeling weird like feeling like I'm having symptoms and they did a urine sample and nothing came back they jus drew blood and im still waiting for result
could I still possibly be pregnant???
my period isnt due til the 28th

I know where you are coming from Jessica. Yes people do come to the ER all the time because they want a pregnancy test or they had a positive at home and just want to know how far along they are. When you see this daily, you realize her question was not rude but it's real life.

Therefore, I can identify with Jessica on why she would want clarification. Too many times people go to the ED when they should go to their primary Doctor- or even urgent care if they can't wait for an appointment.

I agree. The OP said she's at the hospital BECAUSE she's been feeling "off" lately. She set herself up for someone to assume she was just going for a pregnancy test. Sorry, OP. Glad you clarified though... Being in healthcare, I see people clogging up ERs all the time for non- emergent things.

Unless you were suffering a medical emergency such as chest pains, dehydrated, vomiting, acute pain, trauma, nurological problem there really wasnt a need to go to hospital this would have taken up valuable time which another seriously ill patient could have required. If youve gone solely to find out if your pregnant and feeling a little off ie symptom spotting thats just very selfish taking up valuable medical time. If it was warrented trip to the hospital thats a different matter and of course not selfish as medical helps needed. I work in AE and i cant tell you how many people visit because theyd like a pregnancy test its ridiculous. Hopefully youve made a warrented trip and hospital are getting to the bottom of whats causing you to be feeling poorly theirs lots of reasons which could cause this not just pregnancy though. Best wishes

well gallstones and diverticulitous are both medical issues needing treatment when flared up this i can agree with. Youve stated they gave you morphine fastly but then contradicted yourself by saying youve refused all medication due to the possibility of being pregnant and not wanting to harm the baby so i really dont understand this. Ive suffered gallstones and believe you me i know how excruiating the pain is theirs no way i could have possibly wrote upon a social media site a d especially after having morphine.

They probably want to send her for imaging and she is probably worried it might hurt the zygote if it could possibly exist and I was in so much pain they gave me morphine so fast for gallstones and diverticulitis but I worried about possibly being pregnant because I was in my TWW and I had enough energy to worry about it even though I was screaming in pain because we're mothers before we have kids, if there is even a possibility of that little peanut growing inside me I will do anything to protect it. The ER staff had to convince me to do X-rays and CTs and MRIs because they were more concerned for my life than I was because that potential peanut inside me made me not want the pain meds, made me not want to risk a damn thing that could hurt it because I may not have a child yet but I am a mother.

catie i get what your saying but we don't know this girls cycle ?? she could have had a period 2-3 months ago and that's when she's due another and still have fallen pregnant or something this poor girl hasn't given all the facts, I have a period every 3 months not every month utility also on medication to help me ovulate so I still ovulate even when I'm not having a period each month who knows this girl could be the same don't be so quick to judge

And you may be having an anxiety attack getting too excited/worked up. That happens to me and I have chest pains. Hope it's nothing serious and that you are okay.

Guys no need to be so mean! I went to the hospital when I was sure I was pregnant, I had taken 3 home pregnancy tests and they came back negative. They wouldn't take me seriously but I knew. Ended up having a very painful miscarriage. I believe my progesterone levels were low and baby just stopped growing. It was heartbreaking. Good luck.

What an unbelievable waste of resources and money you have just wasted by going to the hospital becuase you thought you were pregnant. If your from the uk shame on you and people moan about the Nhs is it any wonder it's the crisis it is when people pop up at hospital for such ridiculous reasons. You have a family doctor for a reason the hospital is for accident or emergencies
