Did your doctor ever tell you that you're too fat to get pregnant?

I haven't been told this. But I've read posts on here where doctors advised someone to lose weight before theyd prescribe any fertility meds. I have a Drs appointment on Tuesday where I plan on talking about not being able to conceive for the first time (been trying 15 mos with no luck). I have never been to this obgyn before so I don't know what to expect. I do not get a period whatsoever when I'm not on the pill. I want to try clomid as I've already been taking metformin. I'm just worried my weight will be an issue. I've already tried losing weight and I just can't. I'm 220 and 5'0. Help?

She had a little more decorum than "you're too fat" but yes basically.  She said she wants me to do 3 months of diet and excercise before prescribing anything. I know I am overweight and this just motivates me to lose more.  She is referring me to a dietician as well to help.

I was just diagnosed with PCOS. I am 5'3" and 220. The dr (gyno) told me that losing weight will help greatly with TTC, but he didn't make me feel terrible like some doctors do. He gave me metformin and provera to kickstart a cycle, and if I'm not pregnant in 3 months we are going to talk about Clomid with the metformin. If your doctor treats you badly you should ask around and/or look online to find a better one! This is all stressful enough, no need for extra stress!

I have pcos and multiple sclerosis. I was sent to see a high risk obgyn about ttc. That doctor told me to lose 20lbs. I'm 5'6 and 170lbs. Losing weight with pcos is not that easy. It seems to take longer.  But weight loss does help me ovulate more.

Usually if you need to lose weight they have you do that before fertility meds. Typically if you're a healthier weight you'll have a healthier pregnancy .
So just be honest if they ask you to lose weight first and ask them for help to get to the bmi they want

Omg yes. It's awful and embarrassing. When I went to see a midwifery center here they told me that, and that they couldn't take me as a patient due to that fact. But they gave me the same of a doctor who might help, because, and I quote, "he's more compassionate to fat people because he's fat". So I'm going to see him May 3rd. I wish you all the best luck, I don't ovulate on my own either.

I am 5"5 and 212 and can't lose weight for the life of me my doctor has suggested to lose weight and when I try to lose it I can't I basically have to starve myself to lose weight

I'm 5'1 210lbs, I totally get it. My doctor was a broken record with every yearly visit. Drop weight, you'll have more regular periods, might ovulate, and if you do get pregnant, less chance of miscarriage. I finally requested Femara and she gave it to me no questions asked and without a lecture. I know I need to drop the weight, it's incredibly hard with PCOS, for me anyway. Im on my second round of Femara, higher dose because I didn't ovulate the first round. I really just want to know if I ovulate, if I get pregnant, great. I'm 30 and ready to do this, but with the weight issue, PCOS is my worst enemy
