30 hour labor! Worth the read

Hey guys! So I just wanted to post my birth story. I was scheduled to get induced at 40w4d due to my baby being too big for my frame. I ended up going into labor on my own at 5am that morning. I got to the hospital and was told I was 4cm 90% effaced and in active labor. I was so happy to hear that I didn't need to be induced and thought I'd be giving birth within a few hours. Boy, was I wrong! I was also told that baby was still very high up and needs to be lowered into the birth canal and I can do this by swaying my hips side to side during contractions and so I did.. I also walked and walked around the hospital. Mind you, I could not sit or lay down because I felt it was a lot easier to be standing or moving. By 4pm, I was told that I was only dialated to 5.5cm and still 90% effaced so at that time my doctor gave permission to break my water. My water was broken and contractions became INTENSE! By 7:30, I started begging for pain relief. My family and husband were telling me not to get the epidural but I literally could not handle any more pain. At that time I had labored nearly 17 hours without any pain relief. I got the epidural around 7:30pm and was checked and found to be at 5.5cm still.. The epidural worked like magic (at first). I then could not get out of bed, which I was okay with because my feet were very swollen and hurting from being on them all day long. I got checked around 10:00 pm and was only dialated a half cm so I was at a 6. My doctor decided to start me on a small dose of pitocin. That made things so bad. I started having sharp painful contractions and was dialated to a 9.5cm by 12am midnight. I then thought I'd be ready to push soon but I was wrong again. I was also told that the baby's head was still very high up and was told to go on all fours and sway my hips from side to side which was very hard to do cuz I was on epidural. I did that for 40 min and was checked and no change. I was put on my left side with a huge ball in between my legs and still no change. I got checked by like 5 different residents and they all had different opinions. One would say I'm ready to push and the other would say I still have cervix on the right side. It was very stressful. I was asking for my doctor. I was told that she was sleeping. She knew I was at 10cm or 9.5 and she was still asleep. At around 1am I was told to start practice pushes with the nurse and resident. I did so many and was told its best I stop and wait for my doctor. I was doing the swaying position again and switching from side to side and keeping active. I started getting the urge to push and I could no longer stop myself. I started pushing with every contraction and my nurse was a total &@/&:$:& she kept telling me to not push and wait for my doctor but I really couldnt. At around 6am my doctor showed up and checked me. She said no you can't push because you're not fully dialated or effaced. She then checked my temp and ordered Tylenol by mouth which I took. My doctor left and told me to stay on my left side. My nurse came in and told me "You need to listen, you are running a fever and you're baby is in serious trouble. You have to push him out and when you do the nicu team will come in and take him. He will be there for atleast 48 hours." I freaked out! I told her please help me! I can push him out without my doctor but she refused to help. I asked her if he's going to make it and her response was "I don't know, I'm not God" wow.. I started pushing with all my might. I had my mom hold one leg and my husband the other and I was pushing as hard as I possibly could. My nurse then called my doctor to tell her and she came in 30 min later. She checked me and had me push about 5 pushes and said you're not pushing good enough so I'm leaving. I thought she was just threatening me to make me push but she seriously left. I asked my nurse 15 min later and she said your doctor went home for a little. I was like WHAT? How could she leave me? At this point, I was still pushing as hard as I could and my doctor came in an hour later. She checked me and I did another set of pushes and she started screaming saying you're not ready to push I'm going to see my other patients upstairs I can't be here all day and she left AGAIN! MY mom and husband were begging her to stay. My mom even told her give her a csection we don't want to lose the baby and she bluffed it off. She said the baby will be fine this is just hospital protocol. Mind you, I was on 2 antibiotics via IV. She was called in an hour later by my nurse. At that point I was crowning. She ended up cutting me really bad and 3 pushes later my baby came out 8lb 8oz l. I only got to hold him for a few seconds then the nicu team took him :( He has to get an IV in his foot. They tried to find a vein and poked him like 6 times and finally got the IV in his foot. He got unnecessary antibiotics and 48 hours later his results were negative. I am now 7 days postpartum and I am traumatized!!!! I'm still having a lot of pain from my episiotomy but I'm so glad and thankful my baby is born and with me today!
